1st Fishing Trip of the Year!

I finally went out for my first fishing trip of the year. My husband and I went fishing last Saturday. I also had my second, third, fourth and fifth trip out this past week out on the river for the big Walleye Run!

I spend countless hours sitting in the boat jigging. Do you know how hard it is to do that when you are used to fishing for bass. When bass fishing, I stand up, cast and retrieve and we are constantly covering new water. I call this fast and active fishing. The fun fishing! I call Walleye fishing slow and boring lol! I was very happy to finally be out on the water though. It's been a long wait!

I understand completely that these are a great tasting catch and many guys fish for them. I will have to gradually make this transition as I think Pat is hooked. We went out once last year towards the end of the run for the first time. I had beginner's luck and caught one that was 21" long.

He caught 4 of them these past two weeks while I caught 2 suckers and 2 sturgeon. I was excited to have caught my first sturgeon until I got it to the boat and it came up out of the water and rolled on it's back all I saw was about 5 feet of white underbelly and a big ole smile on it's face. I thought I caught a shark! It went down and my line conveniently broke at a great time! I've been told when I catch a few more Walleye I will be hooked too. I'm not so sure about that!

HAPPY EASTER!
